Coming Out of the Briars

It has been a full 5 months since my last blog I wrote following my mother's death in November.  I just have not had the time to sit down and do this!  In January we came home to a broken water pipe and about $10,000 worth of damage, my father then passed away the end of January.  I conducted 9 funerals in February, March and April, taught a 7-week Discipleship class on Death, became the PR for my dad's estate, placed my parent's home in Cordova on the market, still working to repair the damage from a tree falling on my backyard gazebo and chicken coop, along with the normal load of Sr. Adult and Congregational Care ministry at LBC plus my wonderful "L Group", Friday morning prayer group, the Legacy Choir, Called Quartet, Singing Churchmen, Joyful Noise Handbells, and a weekly home Torah Study every Saturday!  (whew!)  BUT.... God has been so good and faithful through it all.  Everything that needed to be accomplished has been done according to God's plan and in His time.  "In His time, in His time, He makes all things beautiful in His time!  Lord, please show me everyday as You're teaching me Your way that You do just what You say in Your time."  Psalm 37:23 says, "YHWH makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him."  I honestly believe and know that it is the working of God alone that has sustained me through this time.  I thank God for my prayer partners and those who intercede to the Father on my behalf.  And I am thankful for my wife Julie who has been by my side through it all!

In the weeks and months to come I hope to share a lot of memories and treasures that have been found from going through my dad's files and sermons, audio recordings of radio broadcasts, and other memorabilia.

And now I can start looking ahead with excitement and anticipation about all that the Father has in store for the future.  My heart continues to sing, "God is so good, God is so good, God is so good, He's so good to me!"
